As a member of a team, the Evangelization Coordinator - Bilingual Spanish consistently exercises discretion and judgment to advance the Archdiocesan plan for Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship. This role requires the individual to align the goals of Evangelization with the successful execution of the Archdiocese of Chicago and Renew My Church strategies. In collaboration with the Parish Vitality Coordinators (PVCs) and Lifelong Formation Coordinators (LFCs) in each of the vicariates, this role serves as a subject matter expert for those who lead evangelization efforts in parishes, as well as other offices in the Department of Parish Vitality and Mission. 


  1. Archdiocese
    1. Uses advanced knowledge of Catholic theology to design innovative and strategic approaches to design, develop and implement diocesan-wide evangelization initiatives, which could include special events, speaker series, and “soft evangelization” undertakings.
    2. Gathers, analyzes and interprets evangelization ministry needs to help direct and support local parishes, or other Archdiocesan offices, to design their ministries through the lens of evangelization.
    3. Manages the development and implementation of Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship processes and resources.
  2. Vicariates
    1. In collaboration with the PVCs and LFCs, and based on an analysis and interpretation of needs, provides direction, support and resources for the vicariate-specific evangelization efforts.
    2. Working with the PVCs and LFCs, identifies and leverages innovative solutions to foster collaboration between parishes within the vicariate.
  3. Parishes
    1. Serves as a subject matter expert consultant to parish staff to help them implement best practices for evangelization and missionary discipleship.
    2. Provides guidance and coaching to parish staffs that will help them conduct inventories and to be accountable for achieving their goals for mission vitality.
    3. Reviews progress of parish evangelization goals and strategies and provides coaching to parish staff that support achievement of their goals. 
    4. Based on an assessment of parish needs, guides them to the most relevant best practices and/or resources of the Office of Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship. 
  4. General
    1. Using an analytical approach, advances the tasks and projects that support the overall efforts of the team.
    2. Proposes, analyzes, interprets and manages budget considerations or other administrative initiatives that provide efficient distribution of services across the entire Archdiocese.
    3. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.



  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Bilingual, with fluency in both English and Spanish
  • 3+ years of ministry experience, preferably at the parish level
  • Ability to mentor colleagues or others toward success.
  • Understanding and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission, and values
  • Ability to facilitate and conduct open dialogue with groups
  • Strong decision-making skills and demonstrable good judgment
  • Excellent project management skills with proven ability to implement successful programs
  • Good listener with curiosity and openness to learn from others
  • Excellent communicator – written, verbal, and interpersonal
  • Team player with conflict resolution skills
  • Organized and creative with the ability to adapt to change and be flexible
  • Ability to relate at multiple ecclesial levels: parish, deanery, vicariate, Archdiocesan and departmental
  • Microsoft Office skills, including working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint programs
