Position Summary

The Archdiocese of Chicago is in need of a talented, ambitious, and joyful Communications Manager to support the communication needs of our local Catholic Church. The Internal Communications Manager will play a key role in the success of our efforts to build an internal communications infrastructure with proven processes and tools to better support clergy and employees across Cook and Lake Counties. The Internal Communications Manager will also support our Renew My Church communication activities, which seek to inform and inspire clergy, staff, and parishioners amidst large-scale spiritual and structural renewal of our parishes. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with and skilled at providing executive level support, developing comprehensive communication strategies and plans, and creating content that both engages and motivates audiences to support strategic decisions and initiatives across the Archdiocese. The ability to communicate effectively in written and oral communications is a must. This position requires a high level of creativity, as well as the ability to use insights to adapt content and messages for different audiences and media. The successful candidate should be detail-oriented and committed to meeting tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes communication plans and content strategy that drives awareness, understanding, and engagement of pastoral center initiatives
  • Provides direct support to pastoral center teams, such as IT, Finance, HR, Legal for project-level communications
  • Manages development and delivery of routine internal communication channels
  • Regularly creates content for a variety of platforms including, but not limited to, Archdiocesan website, intranet, newsletters, parish bulletins, etc.
  • Collects, monitors and analyzes feedback to appropriately adjust messages and tactics through the life of pastoral center initiatives
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement of communication processes and tools
  • Collaborates with other departments to create innovative content ideas
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of and support for the mission, teachings, and liturgical life of the Catholic Church
  • Commitment to our pastoral center values of discipleship, community, service, excellence, and hope
  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism and related field preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to write content for diverse platforms and audiences
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to use social media channels effectively to deliver marketing content a plus
  • Ability to travel locally within Cook and Lake Counties
  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint Online, Google Analytics, Adobe Acrobat/Illustrator, and video editing skills a plus
