Position Summary:

The Investment Associate - Entry Level provides critical support for the Archdiocese’s short and long term investments, pensions and educational trust with the value of these portfolios totaling approximately $2 billion.  In this role, the analyst works with the investment advisor and investment custodian as well as various fund managers to execute approved transactions and monitor their performance.  In addition, there’s frequent interaction with numerous stakeholders (such as parishes and schools regarding their investments and processing their deposit and withdrawal requests) and others in Finance and other departments within the Pastoral Center.   


  1. Process investment transactions, including coordinating all document completions, reviews and submissions for Archdiocese of Chicago (AoC), Catholic Education Scholarship Trust (CEST) and Pensions.  Coordinate related accounting and bank entries, as needed.
  2. Process parish-school endowment transactions, ensuring compliance with endowment charters, spending rules, proper review/authorization.  Coordinate related accounting and bank entries.
  3. Assist in quarterly processes, including investments reconciliations, sub-plan allocation reporting, restricted/unrestricted fund analysis, seminary reporting as well as prepare deliverables for the AoC Finance Committee meetings, Investment Committee meetings (AoC and CEST) and other oversight meetings.
  4. Identify, design and develop opportunities to improve Investments operations, processes and systems, maximizing the use of automation. 
  5. Ensure and maintain effective internal controls over investment operations, including maintaining endowment documentation to support appropriate accounting and use of designated and restricted funds. 


  1. 2+ years of experience in treasury, banking, financial accounting and reporting and/or investments management. 
  2. Undergraduate degree in Finance/Accounting/Business; CPA and/or MBA desirable.
  3. Familiarity with financial systems desirable:  e.g. Microsoft Office suite; bank systems particularly Northern Trust’s Passport, Lawson G/L or comparable, Hyperion/OneStream
  4. Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to build confidence and trust and comfortable with high-change and turnaround environments.
  5. Track record of setting priorities in a complex environment while meeting transactional deadlines and the larger team goals and objectives.
