The Bilingual Spanish or Polish Coordinator of Pastoral Accompaniment serves under the guidance of the Director of Accompaniment, providing pastoral support to the parishes of the Archdiocese of Chicago throughout all phases of Renew My Church. This role works collaboratively with the Archdiocesan Renew My Church team and the parishes in the Renew My Church process while maintaining ongoing communications with the Director of Pastoral Accompaniment. A key responsibility is listening attentively and responding compassionately to the needs of the pastors, the Parish Grouping Team members and the parishioners. This role is based in Chicago and ability to travel, including nights and weekends, to parishes throughout the Archdiocese is required.


Essential Functions:

  • Participates in Renew My Church Grouping Team and Parish Sessions while building relationships of trust and support with pastors and Grouping Team members
  • Works collaboratively with the Renew My Church Grouping Consultant to keep participants focused and attentive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit during the Grouping Team and Parish sessions
  • Participates and leads retreats as a part of a team
  • Visits parishes to meet with pastor, staff, Grouping Team or parishioners as needed
  • Administers and prepares weekly or periodic reports through Microsoft Teams
  • Helps to identify resources for prayer and workshops for staff and parishioners
  • Works with the Vicariate Team to offer and “After the Decision Gathering with the Bishop”
  • Must demonstrate understanding, respect and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission and values
  • Contributes to the ongoing process improvement and efficiencies of Accompaniment
  • May be given other assignments and projects consistent with the responsibility level of this position


  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced coursework in pastoral ministry, pastoral counseling or related degree or equivalent work experience in a pastoral role accompanying people through challenging times
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people from varied social, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to effectively calm and redirect people in highly emotionally charged settings
  • Bilingual with strong English written and verbal skills and strong Spanish or Polish written and verbal skills
  • Team player who is willing to contribute to the success of the team
  • Must be able to effectively juggle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Proactively assists others at the Archdiocese and at churches and schools
  • Sense of urgency to complete tasks timely
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Self-learner and motivated to solve problems by using initiative and resourcefulness


Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to listen attentively to people through prior job experience or courses
  • Experience with Peace Circles
  • Courses and/or knowledge of stages of grief and loss
