Job Summary

The Benefits Specialist analyzes data related to the benefit programs at the Archdiocese of Chicago. This role focuses on health and welfare plans, but also assists in other areas of benefits and total rewards. A key responsibility is using excel at a proficient level to combine data across multiple existing HR systems. This role is based in Chicago and no travel is required.

Essential Job Functions

  • Enter data into IOI Payroll, Lawson HRIS, and BAS Benefits system.
  • Run reports in benefit vendor tools.
  • Create and analyze spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel 2016 to combine system data.
  • Assist with preparing monthly or periodic reports for the internal finance department, benefits enrollments, wellness programs, the Affordable Care Act, EEO-1 reporting, and other compliance programs and matters.
  • Audit and ensure data integrity of data entry in a variety of reports and reporting.
  • Contribute to the ongoing process improvement and efficiencies of manual and/or system generated reporting to reduce and ideally eliminate duplicate reporting.


  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related degree or equivalent work experience working with employee or benefits data, records and systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including proficiency in using V-Look up tables, concatenate functions, and pivot tables.
  • Strong English written and verbal skills.
  • Team player who is willing to contribute to the success of the team.
  • Accuracy and high quality as it relates to data integrity and self-checking reports.
