Job Summary

Administers the Archdiocese's benefits programs for employees at all parishes, schools and agencies, including health insurance, prescription drugs, dental insurance, frozen defined benefit pension, defined contribution 403(b) and share plan, life and disability insurances, Flexible Spending Accounts, extended health coverage and other programs as they evolve to meet the needs of the Archdiocese employees. Manages benefits staff.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversees administration of the Archdiocese's benefits programs for employees at all parishes, schools and agencies including health, welfare, and retirement programs.
  • Responds to and resolves escalated sensitive employee benefit issues.
  • Generates reports from Lawson, IOI, Prudential, Blue Cross Blue Shield or other vendors as needed and to confirm accuracy of vendor bills.
  • Oversees the annual Open Enrollment process for all benefit programs. Oversees the selection of meeting sites and presenters. Coordinates the preparation and distribution of benefit communication materials.
  • Manages annual wellness screenings and programs including oversight of location determination and communications to location business administrators.
  • Approves pension adds and changes processed by the Pension Administrator.

Requirements:

  • BA or BS in Human Resources, or related experience working with benefits’ programs.
  • Knowledge of Lawson HRIS system and advanced report-writing skills.
  • Customer service focus with follow through using compassion dealing with sensitive discrete employee health and/or benefit issues.
  • Resourceful in solving problems to completion that arise related to benefit issues and/or billings.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to explain benefit program details in “plain English” to employees.
  • Adaptable with ability to juggle multiple simultaneous high priorities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing in the English language.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Job Skills and Experience

  • 3 years level benefits management experience, including staff supervision, in a mid-size organization preferred.
  • CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) or working toward CEBS certification preferred.
