Job Summary
In alignment with the Mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago (Archdiocese), the Vicariate Human Resources Manager is the key point of contact providing Human Resources subject matter expertise to managers and employees within his or her assigned Vicariate(s).

Essential Job Functions

  • Act as Human Resources Subject Matter Expert providing counsel to parish and school leadership and employees regarding all Human Resources practices including Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, Compensation, and Benefits.
  • Lead Parish restructuring via Renew My Church.
  • Work closely with Parish groupings to lead and manage the transition of talent from independent parishes to parish configurations via Renew My Church.
  • Lead investigations regarding employee relations issues, e.g. policy violations.
  • Identify opportunities for leadership training and development; facilitate training.
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies to attract, retain, and develop parish and school staff.
  • Participate in the talent acquisition process, including candidate recruitment, interviewing, and evaluation.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Passionate about and committed to the Mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago and global Catholic Church.
  • Minimum five years of relevant Human Resources generalist experience, with an emphasis on employee relations and talent assessment.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment laws, e.g. EEO, ADAAA, FMLA, FLSA, and their application.
  • Ability to gather and evaluate data and make recommendations.
  • Excellent judgment, problem identification and solving, decision making, collaboration, interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work and be entrusted with highly confidential and extremely sensitive information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a changing culture and environment; sense of urgency.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience; Master’s degree and SHRM certification a plus.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus but not required.
