As a member of a team, the position of Communications Coordinator/Evangelization Project supports the Archdiocesan plan for Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship in the Archdiocese of Chicago with a focus on the Renew My Church initiative. The Communications Coordinator/Evangelization Project position is the Office for Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship’s (OEMD) liaison to the communications and events teams.

The Coordinator will work with OEMD team members to organize and advance projects for the office. The Coordinator will work with the events team to plan workshops, special gatherings and other events. He or she will provide content for OEMD communications and work with the communications team for design, editing and proper distribution. The Coordinator serves as project coordinator to ensure assigned projects are advanced in a timely manner.


  1. Works with the OEMD team to advance the communication tools of the office by developing and implementing a social media process, writing copy, booking guests for the monthly radio show, and working with the communications team to update the website, develop a newsletter, and create tools and other communication pieces.
  2. Works as a member of the OEMD team to help implement archdiocesan-wide initiatives for Renew My Church, which could include special events, speaker series, workshops, and “soft evangelization” undertakings.
  3. Coordinates special projects for the office, which in addition to events, could be resource development, working with vendors to coordinate training sessions for evangelization programs, and working with other offices to advance collaborative opportunities.
  4. Researches and coordinates the maintenance and expansion of OEMD resources and tools.
  5. In collaboration with other evangelization team members, provides support and resources for the vicariate-specific evangelization plans.
  6. In collaboration with other evangelization team members, helps provide resources and support to parishes.
  7. Responsible for completing multiple projects in a timely manner.
  8. Provides general administrative support to OEMD.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Marketing
  • Understanding and support for Catholic Church teaching, missions, and values
  • Professional Communications experience
  • Excellent communicator – written, verbal, and interpersonal.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, creative, and adaptive
  • Excellent project coordination skills with proven ability to implement successful programs
  • Good listener with curiosity and openness to learn from others
  • Team player with conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent computer skills including advanced competency with MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite and various social media platforms.
  • Ministry experience, preferably at the college or parish level is a plus
