BASIC FUNCTIONS: Assumes primary responsibility for supporting the implementation of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) program in the Archdiocese of Chicago, in accordance with the principles of the Renew My Church initiative. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Participate in the promotion and administration of the CCHD collection by coordinating the placement of speakers at parishes throughout the Archdiocese for the CCHD promotion and / or collection weekends. 2. Manage CCHD grants process, including processing of pre-applications and applications, site visits, and grant allocations committee work. * 3. Promote knowledge and teaching of Catholic Social Teaching through formation and training, in collaboration with other Human Dignity and Solidarity Staff. Coordinate presentations on Catholic Social Teaching to groups around the Archdiocese, in alignment with Renew My Church.* 4. Assist director in providing support to the work of interns, volunteers and pro-bono consultants. Recruit such individuals to staff the various working committees of the program and maintain their contact information.* 5. Maintain updated database system for all CCHD program components. Enter CCHD data; analyze, maintain an accurate data collection system and coordinate accountability efforts with grantees.* 6. Provide support to parishes, schools and other religious institutions participating in program activities by responding to identified needs such as placing speakers and workshop facilitators, assisting in the development of local social justice organized efforts.* 7. Maintain sound system of program expenses, income and grant disbursements. 8. Coordinate consistent communication efforts with pastors, secretaries and bulletin editors, grantees, volunteers, etc. 9. Maintain updated filing system for all program components. 10. Maintain content for Office of Human Dignity and Solidarity website. 11. Schedule meetings with parish councils, social justice committees, special interest groups, etc. 12. Other duties as assigned.
B. A. in theology or social science. 1-3 years’ experience of general office procedures, filing, organizing, scheduling, etc.Bilingual English and Spanish strongly preferred, Good oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Power Point. Ability to give presentations to small groups, i.e., social justice committees, parish councils, students, etc. Familiarity and facility with mainstream social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. Cultural awareness and sensitivity; adaptability to change. Must demonstrate understanding, respect and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission and values.
